Assumption of the Holy Virgin
Pan-Orthodox Church
Philadelphia, PA

WE HAMMERED, SCRAPPED, PAINTED AND WENT AS FAR AS WE COULD GO

Now our glorious Century-old Church needs your generous contribution to continue urgently needed restoration.

Our magnificent Church was built back in 1913 to preserve the rich religious, social, ethnic, artistic and intellectual heritage of our ancestors Christian Orthodox faith and to provide spiritual strength to all who seek Salvation and God.

Time has withered this once robust structure and threatens the integrity of both the exterior and interior space and especially its resplendent Icons.

Sanctuary walls, plastering, electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems, cupulas, painting, drains, sewers and brick walls are in need of renovation.

The cost of renewing our grand Church is estimated to be $200,000. Your generous, tax-exempt contribution will preserve the Church, its history, architecture and a home for Blessings, Sacraments, and Worship.

Thank you for your generous consideration:

Rev. Mark W. Koczak, Rector (mobile: 302 547 4952)

The Mission of The Orthodox Church in America, the local autocephalous Orthodox Christian Church, is to be faithful in fulfilling the commandment of Christ to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”

More Information >

The Holy Scripture is a collection of books written over multiple centuries by those inspired by God to do so. It is the primary witness to the Orthodox Christian faith, within Holy Tradition and often described as its highest point. It was written by the prophets and apostles in human language, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and collected, edited, and canonized by the Church.

Daily Readings >

Holiness or sainthood is a gift (charisma) given by God to man, through the Holy Spirit. Man's effort to become a participant in the life of divine holiness is indispensable, but sanctification itself is the work of the Holy Trinity, especially through the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ, who was incarnate, suffered crucifixion, and rose from the dead, in order to lead us to the life of holiness, through the communion with the Holy Spirit.
