Assumption of the Holy Virgin
Pan-Orthodox Church
Philadelphia, PA

For over 100 years the parish of Assumption of the Holy Virgin has bore witness to the Word in South Philadelphia, through the prayers, generosity and sacrifice of those who have come before us and those who are with us now.  For this we are tremendously grateful!  Please join them and consider helping by doing the following:

1) Worship With Us – whether you come frequently or if you are an occasional visitor, you are part of our parish family, and when you pray with us you help to strengthen and encourage us.

2)  Spread the Word – tell your family, friends, and anyone you believe could benefit, about our community and invite them to come and visit us. A personal invitation is the number one way the Church grows. Tell a friend to “Come and see!”

3)  Pledge Your Support/Make a Donation – help us to continue to be a witness to Christ in the Philadelphia area by pledging your financial support or making a donation. Even if you are not a full-time or even part-time member, your financial assistance can help make a difference.

4)  Pray For Us – remember us in your prayers, asking that the Lord strengthen, help, and direct us according to His divine will.

Our mission is bringing the joy of Christ's resurrection to those who have never heard the Good News, and to strengthen and encourage the faithful who reside within Philadelphia and the local area.

More Information >

The Holy Scripture is a collection of books written over multiple centuries by those inspired by God to do so. It is the primary witness to the Orthodox Christian faith, within Holy Tradition and often described as its highest point. It was written by the prophets and apostles in human language, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and collected, edited, and canonized by the Church.

Daily Readings >

Holiness or sainthood is a gift (charisma) given by God to man, through the Holy Spirit. Man's effort to become a participant in the life of divine holiness is indispensable, but sanctification itself is the work of the Holy Trinity, especially through the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ, who was incarnate, suffered crucifixion, and rose from the dead, in order to lead us to the life of holiness, through the communion with the Holy Spirit.
